About the Lodge

The Gate Lodge is accessed along a private road and located in a tranquil setting on the northern shore of Loch Ericht. It has comfortable, elegant public rooms far beyond the ordinary, with unique décor, deep sofas, and grand granite fireplaces. The warm and welcoming ambience flows through to the four sumptuous bedrooms, each unique in character. There are excellent views from every room, not least the turreted 360◦ viewing gallery at the top of the tower.

We spent the most amazing Christmas week at the lodge with our family. The location is perfect and the property far exceeded our expectations, it is a truly beautiful building, the attention to detail is stunning and the quality of all the rooms was 10/10. We would not hesitate in recommending this as the perfect escape/ holiday /relaxation retreat. We walked the mountains, photographed deer and had a thoroughly perfect Christmas. The staff at Ben Alder are very professional, incredibly helpful and on hand to help. We will definitely be back for more of the same soon. Thank you to all at Ben Alder Estates. Paula Gill

How To Get There

OLICIES
Directions

Take the Dalwhinnie exit off of the A9 and follow the road to the petrol station. Take the track located next to the petrol station and continue past the white houses on the left to the railway barrier under the railway arch. On reaching the barrier, call the Estate security (07827 330 383) for the code. Turn immediately right through the stone gate posts, follow the track up a short steep hill, then bear left. Continue to the first turreted building with electric gates in an archway. Just before the gates, there is a post with a keypad. Press the security button for access. Carry on, along the track passing An-Tochailt Lodge on your left, and continue until you reach another set of electric gates. Press the security button on the keypad located on the wooden post. Once you pass through the gates, the Gate Lodge is immediately on the left.

It is necessary to have the use of a vehicle during your stay but if any of your party wishes to arrive by train there is a station at Dalwhinnie. The overnight sleeper service from London stops at Dalwhinnie as do some of the day trains. Nearby Kingussie Station offers more choice of train times.
