Lodge Features & Layout

An-Tochailt Lodge lies on the northern shore of beautiful Loch Ericht, and it nestles beneath the Fara, Scotland’s seventh-highest Corbett. Customer Testimonials

“An Tochailt has become our home from home. It is a beautiful house — a mini castle paradise! Both in winter, when its warmth, coziness and roaring log fires offer shelter from the snow and gales, or in summer, when the endless days allow for glorious and breathtaking views down Loch Ericht, it is a simply magical spot. The furnishings are comfortable, the towels and linens excellent quality, the unlimited hot water and huge bathtubs much needed after a day’s fishing or walking. The dining room is magnificent and a perfect place to enjoy eating our daily catch or Christmas feast! (The kitchen is disproportionately small for the size of the house, but it suits the 3 of us perfectly, although it might be snug for larger groups.). With a drying room/boot room and lovely scullery, the house is very well equipped for those who enjoy outdoor living. And there are books, games, dvds and the all-important Wi-fi for those who prefer to stay at home. The house is a haven of tranquility and seclusion, yet the excellent, friendly and efficient team on the Ben Alder Estate are just a phone call away. We always hate to leave and we look forward to each return visit.”

How To Get There

Directions

Take the Dalwhinnie exit off of the A9 and follow the road to the petrol station. Take the track located next to the petrol station and continue past the white houses on the left to the railway barrier under the railway arch. On reaching the barrier, call the Estate security (07827 330 383) for the code. Turn immediately right through the stone gate posts, follow the track up a short steep hill, then bear left. Continue to the first turreted building with electric gates in an archway. Just before the gates, there is a post with a keypad. Press the security button for access. Carry on for half a mile to An-Tochailt Lodge which will be on your left.

It is necessary to have the use of a vehicle during your stay but if any of your party wishes to arrive by train there is a station at Dalwhinnie. The overnight sleeper service from London stops at Dalwhinnie as do some of the day trains. Nearby Kingussie Station offers more choice of train times.
